About Us

STPI-Gurugram is the 11th jurisdictional directorate that has been playing a significant role in promoting IT/ITeS exports from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir.

Over the years, STPI-Gurugram has played a significant role to promote the region as a preferred IT destination and act as single window agency for IT/ITeS industry by putting new milestones in IT exports from the states.

In FY 2020-21, STPI-registered units under STPI-Gurugram jurisdiction contributed Rs. 25,228.05 crore IT/ITeS/ESDM exports.

The Beginning

of Gurugram

STPI-Gurugram Centre become operational in 2014 with a total space of 56,000 sq. ft. and started providing statutory services to IT /ITeS units registered under the STP Scheme and hardware manufacturing units under EHTP Scheme. During 2014-15, STPI-Gurugram contributed Rs. 17,857.69 crore IT/ITeS exports.

The Growth Booster in Northern India

The Role of STPI in the growth of the IT industry has been tremendous, especially in the case of start-up SMEs. The STP scheme is a 100 percent export-oriented scheme for the development and export of computer software, including export of professional services using communication links or physical media. This scheme is unique in its nature as it focuses on one product/sector, i.e. computer software. The scheme integrates the government concept of 100 percent Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and the concept of Science Parks/Technology Parks, as operating elsewhere in the world. The total IT/ITeS exports from STPI-Gurugram in FY 2020-21 touched Rs. 25,017.80 crore.

New Initiatives

NEURON

NEURON, a Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) in AI/Data Analytics, IoT and AVG, has been set up in STPI-Mohali in collaborative manner. The stakeholders are MeitY, STPI, Govt. of Punjab, ISB-Mohali, and PTU. Other Partners are IIT Ropar, SCL, CAN, and TiE Chandigarh. The objective of this CoE is to create entrepreneurship, which is the key pillar for economic growth, job creation, wealth creation, and competitiveness. This CoE with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 20.92 crore will foster 250 startups in five years. In the last two cohorts, 13 startups have been on-boarded. AI & DA (Data Analytics) Lab is operational, 18 mentors are being associated with NEURON to support startups, 2 OCPs as startup selection process are completed, and Bootcamp program started for startups. Currently, the third cohort is in process to select promising tech startups.

APIARY

APIARY, a CoE in Blockchain Technology at STPI-Gurugram, was launched in July 2020. This CoE is set up in a collaborative manner with 10 stakeholders viz: MeitY, STPI, Govt. of Haryana, 3 Academic partners, 2 Industry partners, 1 Knowledge partner & 1 Industry association. This CoE with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 25.27 crore will foster 100 startups in five years and now 10 startups have been on-boarded in the first cohort. 18 mentors and 8 partners are associated with APIARY. The Bootcamp program for startups is in progress.

STPI-Gurugram's Sub-Centers:

STPI has expanded its presence pan-India since its inception in 1991 with 3 centres to disperse tech-driven entrepreneurship to Tier-II/III cities. Today, STPI has 62 centres of which 54 centres are in Tier-II/III cities. These centres have been playing a pivotal role in boosting IT/ITeS/ESDM exports from the respective region, generating employment, and fostering startups to develop software products.
